Shanna

Shanna is a Kodiak kid that grew up loving the outdoors. The extent of her athletic ability was 6 years of Volleyball from Middle School/High School, never touching a barbell before CrossFit. Coming up on her 40th birthday Shanna found herself out of shape and significantly over weight. Determined to find her inner athlete she walked into her first intro CrossFit class… push ups were from the knees, stepping onto the box, forget about jumping and her squats (if you could call them that) were sloooow. Only finishing 2 rounds and completely spent she was immediately hooked. Now some 75 pounds lighter and nearly 5 years later she is eager to share her passion for CrossFit with her hometown.

Shanna is also passionate about food and nutrition and is currently working on her Fitness Nutrition Specialist Credentials. She plans on helping members pave the way for a lifelong journey of health through the power of food.

In June of 2013 she competed in her first Figure Competition – The West Coast Classic and placed 4th.

Owner/Head Coach- CrossFit Level 2 Trainer

Tim grew up in sunny Southern California and played organized sports as a young kid. A demanding carrier with long hours lead to being overweight and out of shape. After a check up at the doctor’s office he got a scare that would change his life forever. Borderline diabetic with high blood pressure and bad cholesterol – “drop the weight or lose 20 years from the end of your life” said his Doctor. After that date he was determined to change to a healthy lifestyle. That is when he discovered CrossFit. With CrossFit and it’s wonderful community he lost 70 pounds and got a renewed love for being healthy. Now the things he enjoys doing involve some sort of outdoor activity, running, biking, hiking etc…

For fun he enjoys competing in Ironman Triathlons and long distance running races and coaching others in what he has learned from years of CrossFit.

Anna Bio PicAnna

Coach/Level 1 Trainer

Anna grew up a military brat, living all across the US. She is enjoying her 7th year in Kodiak Alaska, loving every bit of the outdoor life. She played organized sports growing up and swam for her high school. After high school she went on to USF in Tampa, FL and discovered her love for running. Starting as a stress relief, running has become her peace of mind activity and she truly believes in the “runner’s high”. Anna’s idea of a good Saturday morning is a long distance run followed by bagels and coffee. Encouraged by her sister, she skeptically started CrossFit in February of 2014 and has been hooked ever since. Never weight training before starting CrossFit, she struggled with many of the movements and now thoroughly enjoys passing on her knowledge with new members. In just a short time Anna has improved her overall fitness and has set PR’s on some of her favorite long distance races, such as the Pillar Mt. Run that takes place in Kodiak every year. Anna looks forward to sharing her excitement and enthusiasm for CrossFit with the Kodiak community.

Sara

Coach/Level 2 Trainer

Sara holds a bachelors degree in Exercise Science from the University of North Ga where she also commissioned as an Army Officer in 2008. At that same time she stumbled upon CrossFit and couldn’t get enough of it! Upon graduation she attended flight school in Fort Rucker Alabama (where she also met and married her husband) and graduated as a CH-47 (Chinook) helicopter pilot. During her 6 years in the Army she deployed to Afghanistan and was stationed in Fort Wainwright, Alaska and then back to Fort Rucker, Alabama. Upon getting out of the Army to become a full time mom, she decided to start taking coaching and training a little more seriously. It’s always fun to see yourself accomplish something that was once impossible, but even more fun to see someone else accomplish it! Sara’s Husband Phil is brand new to the Coast Guard after his 7 years in the Army as a UH-60 (Blackhawk) pilot and will now be flying Jayhawks.
